Grandma's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

We are living through some weird and wild times right now. Since we are all social distancing and staying home, I've found a new passion for baking. I'm not sure I should actually call it a passion-I think it's something I've picked up out of pure boredom and to pass the time. I have made a batch of snickerdoodle cookies and some cinnamon doughnut muffins, but I was craving chocolate chip cookies.

My sister and I spent a lot of time with my grandparents when we were young and we would always "help" my grandma with her baking. My grandma's chocolate chip cookies were the best. I knew her recipe was written down somewhere, so I dug through a stack of cookbooks and recipes written on random pieces of paper to find it. I made a batch the other night and they were amazing! I was surprised by how many cookies came from just one batch.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Preheat the oven to 325F

Combine for mixture A:

2 1/4 cups of flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

Cream together for mixture B:

1 cup butter

3/4 cup white sugar

3/4 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 tsp water

Gradually add mixture A to mixture B. Stir in 1.5 cups of chocolate chips. Line baking sheets with parchment paper for easy clean up. Use an ice cream scoop to measure out the dough for each cookie and place 2 inches apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes.

There's nothing better than a warm chocolate chip cookie and a glass of milk! I hope you are all doing well and staying safe.
